He was expecting the perfect blind date.

Not a word he would utter,

he felt his heart flutter,

his stomach was clamped tight,

but he knew that, without a doubt,

it was going to be a majestic night,

then through the door

her face appeared,

all the nerves melted to the floor,

and he would think clear,

his date was here,

a natural laugh,

the first laugh he heard

came before her first word,

she was top rate,

in that, there was no mistake,

honest, nothing fake,

she wasn’t what he expected,

she was the perfect blind date.
