A fun poem.
With the roll of the dice
And the blink of an eye
The whole game changed
For he and I
One minute laughing
Without a care
The next running away
Into night air
Why were they chasing us?
It was only one hand
We did not know
It was the one that made the man
An outsider to be captain
That could never be
But the rules of the game
Were stated so clearly
On the fifth role
Whoever won
Was to be captain
Challenged by none
But this twist of fate
Was not in the book
They wanted the outsider
To hang by a hook
My outsider and I
We ran away fast
Jumped into the water
We were free at last
Once back to shore
We had a good laugh
At the simple dice game
That was nearly our last
And now that it’s over
And our lives are the same
We warn all we meet
Never to play a pirate’s game
