This poem describes my struggle with love and my habit of always seeming to find it in somewhat cruel women.
It seems as though the past is here to stay,
And the future is a million miles away.
Awake you fear the demons in your bed.
Asleep they swim into your heavy head.
I see them move inside your every twitch.
Your soul’s in need of one more closing stitch.
I think it’s wonderful I’ve caught your eye.
You are an angel living in my sky.lo
I wonder if you hear me when I say,
“Inside your arms is where I’d like to stay.”
Forget all of your useless could-have-beens,
Before the curse of holding on begins.
So open up your eyes and see me here.
I promise not to draw a single tear.
Your love is something I can strongly taste,
In between my locked and loathing space.
There’s times I scream without making a sound,
And times I can’t find up when I am down.
I know there is a place that still remains,
A place that eats the fear and kills the pain.
And in this place with you I disappear.
It’s a place that’s so much brighter when you’re near.
So kneel with me inside this place and pray,
Pray we have a love that’s here to stay.
Now sleep and know I’ll keep your soul from harm,
And know you’re always safe inside my arms.
