Poverty is their way of life, all they know are tears and strife…
In this land of milk and honey
Don’t you think it’s kind of funny
That so many folks are poor and short on dough?
And why is it that so many
Are so broke, without a penny
And don’t have enough for a picture show?
Now, they do without the things
That a steady income brings,
And their climb up that ol’ ladder is more than slow.
Poverty is their way of life,
All they know are tears and strife,
While our money goes o’erseas in a steady flow.
Be a good guy Uncle Sam,
Help our people all you can,
Then help the others from the pot of surplus, don’t you know.
I don’t mind our sharing love,
And some of the bounties from up above,
But stop sending out our money to known foes.
They won’t love you anymore
Then they did in the days of yore,
With their shouts of “Yanks, Go Home!” as hostilities grow.
Concentrate on the U.S.A.
That’s a big enough job, I’d say.
Better conditions for ALL your children
