A wee run… after a conversation where a certain name came up.

As I walked through the Arches of the Briggiat

The rain in all it’s wonders decided it was time

Time for mixing with kismet wind and drams

There on the other side of the road was old Fred

His last masterpiece in hand

Dodging the wondrous Rain…

Like some Elfin wizard with his

Whisker hidden smile…

‘ Hey up there Fred! ‘

He turned his head by now a straggled mess

There it was that we smile ha ha ha

Now Fred to put you right

Was a dear old Friend of mine

He was a writer of good acclaim

Who never sought the glamor nor the fame

Was vary vary fair minded

But!

Still if Fred called a man down

Then I would be fair mind and get my own decision head on

Although I must confess to the odd bit of favouritism in Fred’s case

Be it a minor transgressions of the amber ale induced kind

As hither to… how said Fred would find his way home in such a night

If served some more…  So! was it not easily repaired

That I had already taken care of this…

As I would share my chariot that awaits my call ha ha ha…

‘ OH! and do add two large dram’s ‘

.

I crossed over and shared a welcome with Fred

We then took shelter from said storm

Oh!!ww… wit a wicked Tory of a day this eh! ‘

’ Aye! a right stinker ‘ I replied as we ducked into the Old Victoria bar

Shaking the part of the day that had clung to both of us

Resembling, Druochit hawkers of rags another goods …

But truth in tell

Both poets one young one old both full of sharing caring and Justice

For all…  ‘ If a man can stand alone and fight his corner single handed

He fights a Goodman’s fight!

Yes Fred was a good honest man…

Aye! fair few nights spent in Freddie’s wise company enlightened

In his charms he was a great one with the words

Give him a topic he’ll weave you a spell in magic language

Fit for any occasion or just bring forth a twinkle of his een

Before reciting off a line or three of such a bonnie lass…

Och! much more and many writers I hae shred an I hae met

But!

Not one to lace a shoe to you… Fred! you were and are the best.

    I don’t know – I think you’re pretty darn close!

By the way, I could frame that line:
“shaking the part of the day that had clung to both of us..”
    Brilliant.
