Table tops or the tops of anything around, a convenient spot to dump the odds and ends.
How indulging is a table top
for a thorough mess
embracing all your dumps therein
and lighten your distress.
It is such a high land
kids climbing up and down
while adults go up the wall instead
face contorted in a frown.
I open my cabinets to find
they’re all scooped clear
the contents reside on table tops
merrily through the year.
The litter go a rioting
vying for space
what a blatant display oh!
my innovation for disgrace.
Nosey guests turn up, unannounced
I mumble an excuse
I was just clearing off
they’re unconvinced, I muse.
Then, who did it and when
begins the blame game
I’m just away from calling the cops
for warring heads to tame.
