This is an inspirational piece expressing the emotion of watching my first baby-boy.
THE child came…
and this space, this space I’d always
feared to step in.
The space where patience and waiting
let things grow and come to fruition.
It is heaven watching kids grow,
It is painful when they choose to go.
And they must go. They must go.
Leaving us like strangers who just sojourned awhile.
Heeding the call of life.
The upsurge of emotions,
lofty thoughts,
light and darkness…
beauty and hope
in the eyes that shine like emerald gems.
Your eyes!
I look into your eyes,
they search into mine for answers;
like I’ll always have an answer.
What do you see Child?
What do you think, Child,
up upon my lap,
and feel the cuddle of my calloused hands
roughened with toil that you may come to no harm?
What do you feel when I softly call your name
In whispers: “Cael”
a voice you know, a voice that has become
a music waking you to life?
You are just serene,
like life was just you and me.
Like there were no worries when the voice of dad
calling you like Elysium music.
Child, born of my blood.
I look at you also. I fear, not for you,
but the future I do not know.
I fear because i will be there just for a while.
I fear because you’ll need to walk your own path,
A road that only your heart knows its thrills and pangs.
When i look into your emerald eyes,
I see a hope also. Not for me.
But the world that opens before you.
It begins where mine ends!
Parents can only love and adore their kids.
They will never choose for you.
Else they will break you.
