A little girl’s wish for a polar bear for Christmas.

Mommy,I want a polar bear for Christmas,do you think that Santa will mind? They are very sweet and so very kind,But mother replied “He would eat all Santa’s cookies(and maybe a reindeer or two)now you must admit that just wouldn’t do.” “I don’t think a polar bear would like to ride in the sleigh”Mother would say.’But in the ice and snow ,that’s where they like to play. ”  ”But Mommy I could hug and kiss a polar bear, and I would take it everywhere and give him such wonderful tender loving care.”"But my darling ,you could get bitten and mauled, and chewed and away you’d be hauled to be his dinner or a midnight snack, but then again you are so very spoiled he might take one bite and then bring you back.”We just laugh and mom says go out and play ,but I continue to think of polar bears all day. After dinner I sit down to write Santa a letter,I tell him dolls are nice but I want something much better.About how polar bears are an endangered species, but I could let him live in my closet and feed him candy and cookie piecies.I think it would be so nice to come home from school each day and get a real bear hug(and he’d never have to be worried about being turned into a rug) before dinner when we’d go out and play.I see them in the clouds. Large white bears floating by,on the arctic sea of the deep blue sky.I see them in the drifts of snow,as the dinner bell rings so inside I must go.All Christmas Eve I see polar bears,in the bubbles in the tub and as I climb the stairs. For  bed I am ready,my Daddy hands me a regular teddy,”Daddy do you think Santa will bring me a real polar bear?He could sleep in my bed and everything with him I would share.”And Daddy says”I don’t think a polar bear would make a very good pet ,they love the freezing icy waters so they are always wet.” I close my eyes feeling quite worn, and before i know it ,it’s Christmas morn.I run down the stairs shouting loud enough to wake the whole houseMommy and Daddy are starting to grouse,my brother looks like a sleepy head, till he remembers what the day is and bounces out of bed.I start opening my presents Santa has brought ,No boxes big enough for a bear to myself I thought.I got a pretty doll and a shiny red trike,a ball and some jacks(I’m a very active lil’ tyke)A sweater from Grandma, some socks from Uncle Stu,But I don’t see a bear anywhere ,do you?But wait a sec what do I see ,is that a huge box hidden behind the tree,It’s got my name on it see, see,I rip open the box what is this a stuffed polar bear, with a note from Santa tied round it’s neck the note says, for the little girl who wanted a polar bear for Christmas,This is really Two gifts! One is a bear you can snuggle up to ,and the other is an adoption certificate for you. It means you have adopted a real Polar bear, but left it in the wild to show how very much you care,Merry Christmas little girl from all the endangered species round the world
