Even the most non-religious people turn to God when they are in need.

Dear God
To you I pray
Don’t let this go another day
Let me see her
And him too
Allow this waiting to be through

Convince her that it’s not too much
An aging parent
Work
That lease
And such

Show her that to really live
She must let go and herself forgive
We all make mistakes
Get lost in memories of abuse
But I’d sooner die
Than hurt those two

God, if you can, please make her see
She’s hurting us both by denying herself me
Make her understand the “right time” is today
Love isn’t convenient
Some fears never fade away

I’m tired of waiting for days to end
Just because in dreams I’ll find her
If she could only bend
Our lives would be so much richer.

I know right now things are hard
But that’s no excuse for this absence
And what good is a “perfect start”
If I’m getting ready to close off my heart?

I’m sure to you she’ll listen
So please speak clearly when these words you relate
Oh God please make this happen
Give her the courage and the sense to give in to fate.
