Poem about a man still searching.

Born into a life of God
Forced devotion, church going events
Daily lessons of the always righteous Ten Commandments
He would search within, as directed by his youth leader
Only to find a lacking of God’s all-knowing love
He’d pray
Tomorrow he’d find his God
He was certain, perhaps

Sundays always resulted in fights with his family
No surprise
They were given to him by God
As he was to them
Gifts
Questions, he’d ask
Simply brushed off by god-fearing family members
Answered with the usual biblical verse
His God-given family prayed it would help

He decided to grow up
Left the Sunday fights in his parents dining room
Impression marks of his wild claims, his opinions, on the oak table
“Can’t get a table like this anymore, a piece of God’s art” his dad commented
Got his first job, straight out of college
The start of his lifelong career
The American Dream
An unpredictable meeting with the Boss
A question of faith
Atheist
Confused as to where God resided
In need of specific directions and landmarks on how to get there
Fired the next day
The company was Christian based

So he left the American Dream
Travelled
Still forever in search of his True God
Met people who’s God was herbs and ancient magic
Led the Day to Day life
No struggle
God was eventually located
In a holiday show in Vegas
He only made it as far as California.
