With a rainbow

Prismatic colors appear

In the heavens after a rainstorm

Among them are red, blue, green

Yellow, purple, and orange

These beautiful colors

Are a miracle that is caused

Through the refraction and reflection

Of raindrops by the rays of sunlight

High in the sky

A rainbow is a glorious sight

To behold

That always brings awe

And wonderment

To its viewers

Some smaller rainbows

Can sometimes be seen 

When water is sprayed

From a water fountain

In a mall, park, museum 

Or as children drench each other

With water from a flowing hose

It is a great variety of colors 

When referred to a multiethnic society

People talk glibly  

About the white, yellow, red

And black men

There’s even a Rainbow Coalition

That fights for justice

To view life’s possibilities

As a magnificent rainbow

Is to be a visionary

Like men and women

That present lofty ideas

- – -

These folks come from different segments of society

They can be politicians, philantrophists

Religious leaders, or members of academe
