A Reason

Lord! Every sinful being in this land
Liveth here with great  vanity and pride
But to the one’s who can evil withstand
Thou givest them the entire abyss wide
Under thy hallowed and loving command
Bliss to the millions ever thou hast denied
But why dost thou that, my spirit, my soul
Why let the earth be for the evil whole?

Omnipotent thou art, each life is thine
Benevolent thou art, each act divine
But thou, I misunderstand so much that
Thy words I no more in my heart enshrine
My prayers for thee also now do decline
My eyes with tears still glow like of a cat

Oh Lord! One reason is just all I need
To comprehend thee and with thee to stay
Let not my misdeeds towards thee now exceed
Give me a cause to still praise thee today
For death alone can waver heart’s real creed
A reason that can still cheer me today
