All week long he does breathing and stretching exercises
In his aparment
The mike, mike stand, two large speakers and a four channel power mixer sit in his living room
An altar to his youth
On Friday nights
He shaves his face
He shaves his head
As he hums the words in the shower
The years melt away
He dons a long sleeve black jersey
Well washed torn bluejeans
And polished black boots…
And when the music begins
A black bandanna now around his head
The audience in the bar waits
He raises the cordless mike
He opens his mouth
Lets the music take possession of his body
So that he and the audience transcend space and time
And the writer becomes a star
