A poem looking into the mind of a person with Asperger’s Syndrome ~ A form of Autism.
You don’t understand me
You don’t even try
I try to explain
But I’m left asking why
~
I wish I could process
The way everyone does
But my brain processes are different
Just because
~
Some call it a mental problem
A few understand
For me it’s frustrating
Like being heard over a band
~
Some call it genius
Very clever and tuned in
Others see condescension
Making me feel boxed in
~
It causes arguments
Pain and distress
I wish I could change it
As easily as a dress
~
But I must understand
It is the way it must be
So I must find a way to deal with it
And co-exist, but still be me
