A shoutout to a fellow Triond writer.
Last week it was brought to my attention,
That my poems have been lacking in structure.
And it’s true, my work could use progression,
And lately my sharp wit has gone duller.
It seems I have grown lazy recently.
I have been letting my work, my skill, slip,
This was pointed out to me, cheerfully,
In a comment by an author quite glib.
I speak of one Victoria Jenkins,
Sort of new to our writers family.
Finally, after many long sessions,
I found a rhyme for your last name, Vicky.
But back to the point, my poems need some work.
So I suggest a challenge between us,
A competition with no aim to irk,
A rhyme-off is the challenge I address.
The rules are quite simple, write what you want,
Any meter, rhyme structure, or style,
And feel free to throw out a harmless taunt,
Once we’re done, the poem’s likes will compile,
To determine the winner of this match.
This isn’t meant as hostile, far from it,
I just want some practice for my next batch,
Of poems and stories, to expand my kit.
What say you to a lyrical throw down?
Do you think you can beat my rhyme and flow,
To see who is the best poet around?
If you’re in then lets go, come at me bro!
