He blew it, he knows it, it’s over. But he just can’t let it go, because it was so beautiful and he really wants one chance to fix what he broke.
A sliver of a chance
Why walk on eggshells doing the soft shoe whistling a happy tune?
Somebody is bound to think you’ve drifted off to the loony moon
Why go around a minefield wearing a blindfold turning cartwheels?
You want to know the answer? I’ll tell you all about how good it feels
If there’s a sliver of a chance
Just maybe a whisper of hope
That we could spark up our romance
I’d walk a 50 story tight rope
Without a net
Why then were you able to turn it all upside down and run?
If you were living in paradise you’d think you never would’ve moved
Why would you throw away the keys to the house of fun?
Even the cloudiest of days, well you know they can always be improved
Why now do you believe and grab your beads and pray?
Like you’re waiting for divine intervention to come and save the day
Why look into her eyes and expect to erase the red?
You put it there; don’t you know that’s why it’s dead
If there’s a sliver of a chance
Just maybe a whisper of hope
That we could spark up our romance
I’d walk a 50 story tight rope
Without a net
Why take breath when you know it will soon be done?
Cause everybody’s longing for just a little bit more sun
Why work for peanuts in a circus that earning so much more?
These are the kind of ways that the little things are for
Why not take a chance on rebuilding the ruins?
You loved the sound we made singing our happy tunes
Why give up when you know what we can share?
Just tell me what in life is ever guaranteed to be there
If there’s a sliver of a chance
Just maybe a whisper of hope
That we could spark up our romance
I’d walk a 50 story tightrope
Without a net Tim Windisch
