For you mothers out there in remembrance of Mother’s Day.
There were white bandages wrapped around her head.
I looked at her as she lay on the hospital bed.
I stood there by her side.
A tear fell as I started to cry.
I asked momma; “Why must you go?”
She replied; “Only the good Lord knows.”
But, he has called my name and I am ready to fly.
If I said I was not scared, that would be a lie.
But, I hope you will always remember me.
Every day striving to be the best you can be.
Remember momma loves you; this I hope you know.
I will be with you wherever you go.
Now don’t you worry, know that I have been cleansed.
Because I know Jesus died for my sins.
Promise me a smile when you watch me depart.
For this is not the ending, but only the start.
I will join my family in heaven above,
Where there is an abundance of peace and of love.
Now bow your head and pray with me,
Open your heart and you will see,
The greatest of my times are yet to be.
Lord, please watch over my son as I know he is in your capable hands.
Please give him strength and wisdom to follow your plans.
Give him your vision to see through his darkest night.
Please keep your hand on his shoulder to guide him right.
I believe now my time is running thin.
I would ask you to sacrifice me for all of his sin,
But, I know you have already given your only son.
So with that being said, I believe I am done.
And son until we meet again,
I love you, in Jesus’s name amen.
I felt my mother’s grasp fade as her hand fell from mine.
And without looking up I knew it was time.
I could not stand, my legs felt weak,
My lips were trembling and I could not speak.
I felt a hand on my shoulder that gave me the strength to stand.
Peace came over my heart as I felt the presence of the lamb.
I knew my mother was still alive, even though her earthly body lay dead.
And a smile came to my lips as kissed her gently on the head.
Mom, I miss you. I will never forget you and I write this still with a smile on my lips.
