God does not lay us aside from service when we mess up, or when our bodies are no longer able to do everything they once were. There is still a work we can do! “We can still be in the battle, in the sacred place of prayer.”

A Soldier Never Shelved

“No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.” 2 Timothy 2:4

“And there is no discharge in that war” Ecclesiastes 8:8c

A soldier or a china tea?

In battle, or on a vanity?

In armour, or in delicate?

Set free to fight, or forced to wat?

In armour, or in delicate dress,

Set free to fight, or forced to rest.

A soldier true is never shelved,

Fights for his Captain, not himself!

Active in battle, not in reserve,

Pleasing the Captain Whom he serves.

May be the invisible field of prayer,

Fighting the battle only won there!

Swords drawn, not into the sheath to fold,

In this war not discharged, but ever enrolled.

True soldiers of Christ the Crucified,

Are never shelved, or laid aside!
