Out in the battlefront he hides in a trench
The thirst of blood he tries to quench.
Gun cocked, loaded, and ready to fire
He keeps the death count rising even higher.
He fights for honor, for the lives of his friends
He is a soldier; he will fight to the end.
Not for his self, he does it for them
For the innocent, he will take action even though the chances are slim.
It’s the citizens of his country he will fight for,
He may have to give up his life just to win this war.
With no hesitation he keeps the enemies in check
He has just two orders, to serve and to protect
And that is what he will do even if it means death.
Life for this soldier is now filled with strife
But being able to serve his country all fills him up with pride.
He doesn’t care if he loses everything he has just to ensure
The future of this wonderful country will forever live on
Even if he has to go home in a pine box he knows he will never be forgotten
He will forever be remembered in loving hearts and patriotic songs.
