A poem for the military moms.

         A soldiers mom

i am but a soldiers mom

fitful in my sleep

a prayer to God i simply speak

my soldiers soul to keep

a mother worried

a mother scared

a mothers pride

that’s uncompared

it used to be a different fear

not so long past

a skinned knee, a late night ill

its all changed so fast

bullets, bombs and terrorists

have replaced those childhood fears

at night i bow my head to pray

eyes full of tears

you put your life on the line

for others every day

you’ve become my hero now

in every single way

you’ve done things i never would

and cant even comprehend

you fight the good fight

and see it to the end.

ill never stop being mom

and worries will not subside

cant wait until you’re safe right here

standing by my side.
