Original poem.
it still sits cast
encased in sleeping pills
left for me on the nightstand
there they were paired and placed
from your newly branded wedding ring hand
a choice for me which reads ‘choice a’
on a placard left for me on the nightstand
i don’t yet feel complete
at least not until i fall asleep
it still sits cast
draped within a foot of a noose
left for me over the nightstand
there it was tied and tallied
above your newly crowned wedding vale head
be another choice for me which reads ‘choice b’
on a placard left for me on the nightstand
i don’t yet feel complete
at least not until i fall asleep
a stellar spell this is you have cast upon me
it suits me like an actual suit
better fits than a spool of amnesia
though it rides up by pulling me down
it still sits cast
enclosed in a ribbon-topped box
left for me on the nightstand
there it was laid and loaded
from your newly mastered wedding bell stance
i see a choice for me which reads ‘choice c’
on a placard left for me on the nightstand
you don’t yet feel happy
at least not until i’m asleep eternally
a stellar spell this is you have cast upon me
it suits me fitter than an actual suit
better fits than a vote for ‘choice d’
by pulling me down
until you ride up with vacancy in the passenger seat
