A collection of epitaphs for the casual reader.

I
To those who look upon my grave,
And the few words here marble could save–
Let those bereft be brave–
And know the dead look up and wave
Goodbye!
Or at least, we try.
II
All look upon this lonesome Marker,
Of a man laid in an earthen womb.
All sit beside this neglected Marker,
Of a man who’s bones are heaped.
All flee from this loathsome Marker,
Of a man thrown in a beggar’s tomb,
All may think of this detested Marker,
Of a man who’s soul was reaped
III
I lay you down, Love to your lasting rest
Beside a willow tree
I pray you found, Love Heavenly joys best,
As You never opened your eyes to me.
I lament, Love what would never be–
A whole collection, our happy family.
IV
I lost the game?
He got the dame
And I was shot in the chest!
And though mine is a deep rest
I scream the blame–
But what a damn shame,
He took away my breath!
V
My Mother so Dear,
As evidence does show,
Lays right here,
And I would know–
I planted her.
VI
Condemn or Condone?
To each their own
Is mercy deserved?
Was any shown?
Judgement reserved
By those he’s known–
By each action done,
–And every seed sown.
VII
I saw Death’s ministering angel,
Just the other day! How lucky was I,
Having looked Death in the eye,
And managed still the walk away?
VIII
Not dead, yet?
–Just wait.
Let lay yet?
No? Oh,–
You must be in debt,
But praying for death, I bet.
IX
Spitefully, I find
Life left me behind.
Worms descend
After the lawyers dined
X
A feast! A fine festering feast!
Fit for the squirmy wormy beast
Nature’s kiss tastes like piss
When you’re the recently deceased!
XI
Run along, my dear.
When you are through
I’ll be here waiting for you.
