A little story about a grave-robber…

Angry spirits would fill the air,

it didn’t bother her,

she simply didn’t care,

sometimes there would be

a suppressed whimper of fear,

she would have no scruples

whatsoever about robbing tombs,

she would stain the night,

even though the dead had no sight,

no sensitive feeling in the whitened bone

of their fingers when she removed the rings,

she was a thief and she stole so many things,

make no mistake

life was short and she just had to take,

she was greedy, and never very giving,

but she had never stolen from the living,

she was a puzzling young woman

always looking a mess,

in a drab-colored dress,

with a baseball cap titled

over her long sallow face,

she would put people in their place,

as they wondered if she took a perverse

pleasure in making herself look plain,

she was mad, perhaps a touch insane,

clearly, she took pleasurable sensation

in stealing,

it gave her a rush, a great feeling,

and she knew most women would dearly

like to have possessed

treasures buried in the earth for centuries

but it’s not that she could help it,

she was clearly obsessed.
