In everyone’s life there is a time where we have to say goodbye.

I poured my heart into them for 10 years,

I had to say goodbye.

It tore my heart out, when I drove away that last time.

I had to say goodbye.

One by one, I see them now and then.

The love and warmth I feel when I see their smiles,

But I have to say goodbye.

I did wrong, I’ll be the first to admit it…

I was a class “A” fool.

I should not have done what I did, no matter how helpful I thought I was.

So I had to say goodbye.

Then one day in May, I was broken, down to my very soul.

I had no choice then…It was time to say goodbye.

He was a stubborn lad, I put every ounce of myself into making him a happier soul.

Then one day, he wasn’t there…It hurt to say goodbye.

I cried for what felt like months, I still cry to this very day.

I wish I had the chance before he died, just to say goodbye.

So now I tell you all,

there will come a day where YOU will have to say goodbye…

But tell them you love them, that they make you smile…

No matter how mad they may make you.

Sooner or later there will come that time…

A time to say goodbye.

To of all the special needs children that I have had the privilege of working with over the past 10 years @ United Cerebral Palsy of Ulster Co.

In Memory of my buddy….DJM- I miss you. 5-5-10
and all of the children with whom I worked with and have passed away…you will remain in my heart, always.
