I have been starting to work on my first novel once again. I started about four years ago, but took a break for a few years. Here are two poems that would be a part of the book. Hope you enjoy!

My novel, as cliche as it may sound, is a tragic love story.  The two main characters fall in love and one of them become ill and die, while the other is left to live on.  The novel, I hope, will show how it may be hard to lose someone, after you grieve you live your life because that is what they would want.  I can relate to that part of the novel, however it is not a personal story.

Here are two poems that may (or may not) be in the novel.  Feedback would be much appreciated!

Poem one:

Love opens doors,
Shows you which road to travel down
Ever since I lost the one that mattered;
The only remnant of my now cold heart,
I have been searching…
For what?
Searching for answers.
Clues.  Hope.  Somewhere
to belong.
Searching for anything to
Stay Alive.

Poem Two:

Love can conquer all,
or so they say.
Those three words;
Slow and stop heartbeats.
Make time lapse.
Waiting for the pendulum of life
to swing.
Paces slowly, gently.
They say love can conquer all
but can those three words
fix everything?

    Very lovely – – keep your dreams alive! I once read that true storytelling is re-telling – - Romeo & Juliet has been re-made into Westside Story, etc………

    Blessings.

    Sincerely,

    -Liane Schmidt.

    I like the two poems, but the second one is my favorite.

    I like the first one because there is a desperate strength in it. Even in the darkest hour, there is hope because we know the dawn will come. There is hope, because we may live to see it. I think that you brought this. I love that it represents the fragility and strength of both the heart and will. (I think I just like repeated my self three times…Sorry…I’m pretty tired but am afraid to try to comment later because I may forget.)

    Of course I like the second because it brings it brings hopes to a realism that can usually bring people down…

    All in all, I think that they are both very well written and real. My heart knows the these words and reaches out to the character(s) they are written about.

    Nicely written.

    I don’t know how they would work in a novel, or how you would work them INTO a novel, but they’re two really good poems, PE.
