A Treasure Beyond Price

A person who knows how to value others is a treasure beyond price.

People are different in many ways

But a common bond draws them together.

People need people,

Those who love will have the chance to live.

Those who criticize others,

Will soon find theirs.

Those who put others in despair,

Will grow in despondence.

As we move along the journey of life,

We learn many things.

As we pass through every tunnel,

We discover something novel.

But if we forget to give,

We lose our own.

And if we don’t love,

We reject ourselves.

This poem goes well with the article you wrote entitled “Faces of Happiness.” In understanding the specific role our Creator wants us to play diligently, we must also realize the underlying universal purpose of our individual roles – to help others play their roles better in the process of improving ourselves. Seeing others shine in their field also brings us closer to another face of happiness – the happiness we find in helping others and indeed, a treasure beyond price.
