For Mary Gray, missionary to Papua New Guinea, who died of cancer in Brisbane, Australia, March 28, 2011.
A Tribute to Mary Gray
(The Things that I Love)
I love my Saviour first of all,
And one day I shall hear Him call,
To take me to that place above,
To be with the Saviour I so love.
I love my precious daughter dear,
Not born to me, but mine to rear.
Given to me, for Him to raise,
And guide her through those tender days.
I love the dad God gave to me,
Who showed what Father Love should be.
No greater father could I have had,
Than the one I was privileged to call my Dad.
I love my church back in my land,
Who always back behind me stand,
And help support us in our mission,
To carry out the great commission.
I love the church in PNG,
The church God gave to John and me.
The one God led us there to start,
And placed those people in our hearts.
I love the church that stood so true,
And helped us see this battle through.
My last two years I’ve here enjoyed,
With the Brisbane church, and Pastor Lloyd.
I love the country where God called,
For us to come and give our all.
Completely yielded, for you see.
I gave my heart to PNG!
I love my chocolate, wondrous food!
It always tastes so very good,
And always does the moment meet,
When I need just a little sweet!
I love my husband, shining knight.
When God sent him, I knew `twas right!
And twenty-eight years our God was good,
As we joined hands, together stood!
I love the school God’s let us run.
Taught till no longer could be done.
Reading, and writing, and math by the rules.
God put in my heart to love the school!
I love my Bible, Book Divine.
Such precious promises are mine.
Truths in the Book I daily see,
And the God of the Book is in love with me!
I love my Cancer! It’s making me be
Conformed to the image God has for me.
As earthly sight grows ever dim,
God’s making me be more like Him!
Shot like an arrow from his bow,
I spent my sojourn here below.
Gone now to Heaven up above.
To dwell with the Saviour I so love!
