A poem about traveling through the American Southwest.

Multi-faceted crystal wand slowly turning in front of my face
beams of light bouncing off my face
the holder of the wand commands my attention
he also wants my right hand that holds
the key to the black Ferrari
bought for our road trip through the southwest desert
it was on I-10 where we stepped out of the car
at a rest stop and ventured inside for a cactus juice shake
with a dollop of whipped cream on top and looked at
the various souvenirs available: turquoise carvings, woven baskets,
tumbled semi-precious stones in a loose mosaic
in the front window
next to the table where coffee and pastry was served.
Back in the car we continued through pale mists
with red hills in the background
wisps of pale white beings floating above
towards the car, ready to unleash a shower
of chocolate bonbons upon us, aimed directly through
the open sun roof and right into my lap.
