This a short poem that helps to describe to the world who a true friend is,what they can do for you.it is not just any person you call a true friend.if your friend possesses some or all of the qualities that I have mentioned in this poem, then he or she is really a true friend.

One who’s not naive and juvenile
But owns up to their mistakes
And try to do whatever it takes
To quit quarrelling and reconcile
One who keeps their promises
One who never pisses
Your ass off
But rather shows you nothing but love
One who does you a great favour
One who when you’re in trouble,is your great saviour
One who keeps you company when you’re sick and alone
Like i said one who does you a great favour when you need one
One who shares in your happy moments as well as your misery and pain
One who brings you back to focus when you drink and go insane
One who gives you rest when you’re dead tired
One who’s not jealous but happy when you’re admired
One who gives you oxygen when you can’t breathe
One who covers your ass when you take french leave
One who believes you when you’re wrongly accused
One who fights for you when you’re wrongly abused
One who relieves the pain when you bleed
In fact a friend in need is a friend in deed
One who’s down with you till the very end
That believe you me is a true friend

its a really great story about friendship

  • parvez on Feb 21, 2010

I really liked this part “One who never pisses
Your ass off”. Friends these days are really good at ‘pissing your ass off’. But the fact is that a friend as described in the poem is really hard to find because this poem reflects the outline of an ideal friend.

  • HoHumm on Feb 21, 2010

While some of it is cliche, and other aspects are perhaps over the top and exemplary of expectations that are too high, it still has the touchy, heart-warming quality. My friend doesn’t have to be my savior and most of the time, my friends still pis me off, but if they can help me to restore focus when I drink and go insane, then it is all worthwhile.

  • fbnewtz on Feb 21, 2010

The punctuation and capitalization is terrible in the first part of the article. The poem is funny and witty though.

  • Tess on Feb 21, 2010

I was touched with the poem’s message because it is hard to find a true friend nowdays. A friend who will be with you thru ups and downs, side by side or miles apart.

  • nurul on Feb 22, 2010

This poem is really good. It’s about friend the mean of this relation. It’s like life. We really found of friends. We won’t be live happly without friends.

  • blukee on Feb 22, 2010

It is a great poem!!! I love it! To get a true friend is very difficult. This poem reveals exactly how a true friend should be…. I am lucky to have a true friend with many qualities in the poem….

  • masilwa on Feb 22, 2010

A friend has to be true to you. A friend is not to hide our flaws cover up our misdoings, but to help us when we fall. and helps us back into the right track when we are lost. A friend has to be there when needed most.

  • eman87 on Feb 22, 2010

A great poem , talking about what should be in true friend but i think its a dream to have a friend like that .

  • Tasneem on Feb 22, 2010

The content is so true and well written, but flow and structure of the poem can be improved. Overall I enjoyed reading it.

  • taty96 on Feb 22, 2010

The description of a true friend is real, however the poem could be better written.

  • zohaib on Feb 22, 2010

The poem is so realistic and based on facts so I really like it and appreciate your writing skills.Great work buddy

  • jdunn on Feb 22, 2010

The poet sounds like they have truly known a great friend. I’m sure most of us can relate to having had a trusted, depended on and appreciated true friend. This is a really lovely and meaningful poem.

  • Guy Burchett on Feb 22, 2010

The punctuation and grammar are grossly inconsistent and there is not much in the way of meter. As well, neither Shakespeare nor Johnny Cash, the master of imperfect rhymes, would have attempted to rhyme “alone” with “one”; it is just wrong. Apart from that, it is quite an amusing and pithy poem.

  • Abunader on Feb 22, 2010

I think This is a very sincere and natural of any Human being
It is What we admire and hope to be True , to get comfort and
    Security

  • kzafar on Feb 23, 2010

This is a nice poem as it sheds light on the qualities of a true friend. If even some of the qualities exist, he is scott-off. The peot has shed light on all the values that defines a true friend.

  • shjaib on Feb 23, 2010

This is truly a good presentation of how true friendship is and should be. We all know that divided we fall and united we stand.. this power comes from true friendship.

  • Gabrielle06 on Feb 23, 2010

In some ways, the poem is nice.
However, it does not apply to everyone; it only applies to the real author of the poem. As what we can see, he/she (the author) defines what an ideal friend is, thus, that is absolutely subjective.

Not all of the characteristics mentioned are applicable to everyone. As for me, I like juvenile friends. The first line of the poem itself is contradictory to my ideal.

Now, what is interesting about this poem is that, it is written nicely and expressively without any bias at all. But i think all poems are. In fact, you cannot argue with the author of the poem as well as the author can force you to believe in what he is saying in his poems.

  • ABDUL HAQUE on Feb 23, 2010

I REALLY LIKE IT. AND THE GREAT PART IS….
One who keeps you company when you’re sick and alone
Like i said one who does you a great favour when you need one….

    THIS IS GOOD

  • nishant singh kaushal on Feb 23, 2010

this is a nice poem specifying all attributes of a god friend.though it’s difficult to have one with all these qualities.i liked it.

  • sycoorasa on Feb 23, 2010

the writer arranged the definition of true friend nicely.in addition, overall the poem can be the verifier of finding the true friend

  • Ann Williams on Feb 26, 2010

I liked this poem because it read easily and had rich content.

  • Udo on Feb 27, 2010

The poem flows well: the poet invites the reader to experience what they consider to be a true friend. I would like to see some of my friends bare some of those traits. I like this poem a lot.

  • dudikov on Mar 1, 2010

This is well written and described words which for a real friend. It takes years to know a person more. Being imbalance for each other makes undesirable effects. So keeping warm, improvements, cooperating, and no telling lie is most important things to share moments between best friends. It is not all about education and family. Person should behave with willingness.

  • Eileen on Mar 5, 2010

Very well written, very smart use of words. The writer can connect and relate to the narrator and laugh and say, hey! my friends are like that! Very comical, I liked it!

  • gdevans on Mar 9, 2010

I liked the poem because it talks about the real meaning of friendship. A lot of people can relate to this because of its content. I would like to think that the writer of this poem has found one such FRIEND.

  • Luqman999 on Mar 14, 2010

That is a wonderful poem. You have successfully described what a true friend is. So sad if one doesn’t have such friend like that. However, let’s not just dream of having that kind of friend. It would be selfish. Instead, why don’t we upgrade ourselves and BE that true friend for others! Let’s learn how to be a true friend from this beautiful poem and then, combined with the thought that GIVING is much better than receiving, let’s GIVE others our TRUE FRIENDSHIP! That way, true HAPPINESS is in our hand!

  • azreen on Mar 15, 2010

This poem is awesome. The rhymes are great, the words are beautifully written yet simple to deliver the message. If the whole world are filled with people like this, it would just be as wonderful as the poem

  • sneha on Mar 18, 2010

The poem really sounds good. Dramatically composed. Cant happen in reality all the time though. It is more about love than friendship. Hope everyone can get a good friend the way you have mentioned. Really like it….

  • reeyaah7209 on Mar 22, 2010

The poem is very precise and direct when it comes to describing a true friend. The author of this poem is really lucky to have found one. It is very seldom to find a friend that will stick with you be it in good times or bad, that’s why for me I make friends easily but I only trust a couple of them and consider them as my TRUE friends.

  • Ethel on Mar 25, 2010

Well as far as I am concerned the poem are made for a friend. It is true real friends never leaves us come what may and be there when you needed them most esp when your broken.

  • Nadine on Mar 26, 2010

I do not like the style of this poem as I find it jarring, crass, and unrefined. I found punctuation mistakes, which may be an intentional style, but one I do not care for. I understand the point the author is trying to make, but I simply don’t like this poem.

  • ay09102 on Apr 8, 2010

  • bunnymehra1985 on Apr 12, 2010

This poem is very much natural. But sounds little bit depressing, if someone is talking about the topic of true friend, then it will surely provides smile to your face, but this one is not

  • denisse888 on Apr 12, 2010

Unconditional love.. uhm… all levels of love must have bounderies and limitations. I just don’t totally agree with this one.. be realistic..

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I recently joined Freelancer.com where you had announced that you wish someone to read, rate and comment on articles.

I am very much interested in this offer but unfortunately I cannot place a bid as I had accidentally made a technical error and had not chosen my areas of expertise carefully.

I am am amateur poet myself, here is just a samples of my work. I wrote this when my best friend died. But I have written many more poems than this. I hope this will prove my suitability for the job!

    ***********************************
Roses are Red and Violets are Blue
    My Dear Beloved Friend,
We will definitely remember your friendship and Brotherhood so true!

Why have the hearts of your friends grown so weak?
Why does the voice of those who remember you tremble and seek
Your advice and good counsel, which is wisdom that can be reaped!

Had I thought you were lost I would search for thee.
In the chaos of cities and savage jungles, behind every dark tree
But since I know now that you are among the blessed
I shall pray for you; and remember your favors until the sun is red tinted

Had I not been aware that all death is common
Had I not known that God’s great plan is very much in motion
Had I not seen that this world is an illusion
I would wonder much when and how I would see you again, without the slightest intuition

You are indeed lucky, My Companion, My Brother
I have no choice but to meet you soon in the beautiful hereafter!
Please wait for me at the gates of Heaven and be not hasty
I know it’s a really enchanting place, full of delights, and flowers so bloomy

You need not worry for the questions of the grave,
For you are one of God’s chosen ones; and a man very brave
However, I shall miss your beautiful voice and recitation
The recitation of God’s book; of God’s great love and earth’s creation

I have heard of Heaven, where there are Gardens under which rivers flow
It has a dazzling sky and many more wonderful things, the extent of which only God will know
I too would not mind coming to meet thee
But it so happens, I have some unfinished business of My Flower to attend to, urgently

    But until then, Peace and Blessings be with you My Brother;
And all the other good things, that cannot be found on an earth; now so darker

May Angels guide thee and help thee in thy lofty quest
The quest of finding your Lord and My Lord, The One who loves us without detest

“One who when you’re in trouble,is your great saviour”, this line from the poem is something I feel is really something friends should be. They should always be there for you no matter what, in any situation. If they are really your friend then they would be. This is a great poem, I like it.
