This was one of my favorites I have written.

To me my loved ones are so dear,
Yet her end is slightly near.
I stand beside the hospital bed,
Only one pillow beneath her head.
Hours I stay by her side,
Her eyes are filled with pride.
Our hands are intertwined.
With love and friendship combined.
A solemn gray seeps through her face,
My heart beats a faster pace.
Her fingers slip through mine–
Another wrinkle in time.
