Recently a writing challenge was announced in the Triond forum. The rules were simple: one had to write an article, poem or story, etc. containing the terms ‘chaos’ and ‘ebony amulet’. Here, I’ve written a couple of poems, a haiku and a limerick containing the terms. Read and enjoy!
Rain Umbrellas, a rush for shade;
Chaos.
The ebony amulet
Glistens
With celestial drops,
In a stranger’s
Arm.
Ebony amulet
Falls; a thousand pieces
Chaos
She wore an amulet of ebony-
But someone dared to call it phony!
She flew into a furious rage,
But before chaos could break its cage,
He escaped on his pony.
It is morning.
The first rays strike
The ebony amulet
On the dressing table corner ;
That stout heart
Of the Ebony tree
In tranquil rest.
The gold streaks
Play on its smooth
Surface;
Its edges,
Slightly worn out
By loving hands.
Everyday,
Those hands provide
It its window to the world;
A world of
People, trees, hoses, cars.
A world which gives it
Praise-
Both spoken,
And unspoken,
From acquaintances
And strangers alike.
At nightfall,
Away from
The chaos,
It rests in
Its favourite corner,
Awaiting another day.
