An abstract piece.

Abstract poetry,

Can confuse the mind.

What does it mean?

Who’s it about?

What the….

I don’t know..

*

Like abstract art,

It can be whatever YOU

Want it to be…

Or nothing at all.

A reflection of self,

Or just a mess on canvas.

What do you see?

*

Words without rhyme or reason,

Is a written mess.

But others see art.

What do you see?

*

Transparent lunacies

In a written form

Attempts to convey

A feeling..

But what?

Of love?

Of hate?

Of longing?

Of confusion?

Of shame?

Hell.. I don’t know…

What do you see?

This is a great poem. The image on the bottom has a lot of red and red is the symbol of love and passion. This is what I see.

it depends on the interpretation of the beholder… abstract! nice one…

  • blknight45 on Sep 12, 2010

    Informative to the craft, abstract.

  • Likha on Sep 13, 2010

Gee, I really don’t know what I see. I’ve made one myself and am out of words to explain what it is but i just know. My mentor said abstract art need not be explained but just appreciated. Well, sorry if i wasn’t able to provide the answers. One thing I do know, I like this poem.

Very well written. Difficult to tell.:-)

  • Joseph Scott on Sep 13, 2010

You’re mentor is very right Likha! But I’m not even sure what it’s about.. I like Doc’s theory though! :)
@mysocalledlife: You are right; any piece of art depends on the audiences point of view whether it’s appreciated or not.
Honestly this was just another one of those “poems” that jumped out of my mind within 10 minutes, lol.. I don’t try to explain it!!
    Thanks everyone!

Transparent lunacies in a written form…. very true…. much better if you do it not because you want to please someone….Not waiting for an appreciation but a mere expressions…..

  • Joseph Scott on Sep 13, 2010

Thank you so much Joie and Heidie!!
Agreed Heidie.. It’s better to get it out of your system and not worry about what others think.. If they like it then that’s great but if not then, oh well.. :)

You were totally right, everyone is entitled to their own interpretation on every work of art. Our interpretation is usually. based on our experience, cultural background and many other things .

In some other form of art, specially the classics, an interpretation must also take into account the author’s background, the era the piece was written and many other things. More importantly, a good interpreter must also be able to see the significance of the piece to the present time .

Again, everyone is entitled to their own interpretation but this should be taken as an opportunity for everyone to learn from each others insight . There is no right or wrong interpretation. That’s the beauty of art and that’s what I love most about it.

  • Joseph Scott on Sep 13, 2010

Well, you said it so much better than I could!! lol.. and yes, the beauty of art is that there is no right or wrong.
    Thank you sandcastle! :)

Interesting poem on interesting topic. It started some thoughts about my perception of art in my mind, but I won’t bother you with that :)

No one is wrong when it comes to abstract. We have perceptions of our own. This one is a good piece.

  • Lipstick on Sep 14, 2010

yeah everything goes but it takes an eye of a another poet to see the beauty in this kind of poetry and sees it as a fine piece of written art
