A poem about salvation.
On that dark sky day a cross was carried stripes were laid
A burden so heavy as he obeyed
His father’s will must be done the sacrifice of the lamb
Spotless and holy pure of all sin God’s only son born to be slain
A sacrifice so big, hells gates shook closed a sacrifice so pure
Holy blood rose look out evil satin, your book is closed
Heavens gates opened when he arose
When they took that heavy cross from his shoulders that were torn
Of flesh and bloody from the stripes he endured they staked his cross in the ground, lifted him up when he was too weak to stand, nailed his bones to that cross and spit in his face, where’s your God they mocked king Jesus
When he looked down from that cross barely conscious from lack of blood
A taste of vinegar rejected from us and his father
He looked down from that cross and he looked into your face
His heart was full of love for you for he knew things we did not know
He knew he was looking at you as healed and new forgiven and free
He knew he was carrying out the sacrifice that would bring you home
To his father’s house where you would be adopted as a child of God
He looked up in full authority and power, and he said, I give up my spirit
And then it was so, heaven had full glory the son of God told his story,
Victory was made and sin was laid down because Jesus won our war
So he could be our savior God’s people could be restored
