A poem trying to show the true meaning of Christmas.

Advent is here, it’s a time to prepare,
A time for waiting, a time for prayer.
Let’s not forget whose coming is near.
Let’s all stand as one and rejoice that he’s here.
Let’s make a wreath of leaves dark and green,
With ribbons and candles that brightly gleam,
And red holly berries that shine bright as his blood
Which Christ Jesus shed, as God said he would.
Let’s all think of gifts we can give to the old,
Whose families are gone and who live in the cold.
Let’s decorate a tree to light up their hearts
And bring comfort and cheer before we depart.
Let’s think of the children in lands far away,
Who know little of Jesus or of Christmas Day.
Let’s offer our prayers for the hungry and poor
Let’s share what we have and not shut the door.
Though we are weak, please help make us strong,
And guide us in knowing what’s right and what’s wrong.
Then we will remember how great was the day,
The Lord Jesus came to show us the way.

You captured the true meaning of Christmas for me—–I see people all the time trying to buy gifts for people that don’t need it——-this time of year is perfect to give a warm hand and a gift for those that need it—-we should do this the whole year round but sometimes life gets in the way but Christmas is perfect to take the chance to extend a hand

Bravo!! Stand up and take a bow, Christine, because this poem is fantastic! I could smell the evergreen scent, see the holly berries, feel the cold breeze on my skin, observe the homeless trying to keep warm and fed, etc, etc, etc…!!!
This poem should pluck at the heartstrings of almost everyone who reads it! To God be the Glory…great job!

Good poem mum, not much to say really as you have said it all. Christmas s a time of year for family and friends to get together and celebrate the birth of Jesus. Even though I do also believe it is a pagan festival aswell celebrating the warmth and glow of winter and it’s seasons. I think thats right not sure really, Cool liked it very, much. Roll on Christmas. Plus I forgot the other main reason we celebrate Christmas is thanks to Saint Nicholas, who gave his life to the old, the poor and the sick children of the world. well done.
