I have certain feelings against the way people put things on the internet. “The Texting Generation” is the generation I’m from, I take this as an insult. For I don’t text, if I want to go ahead and make something through writing, I type the whole word in; whereas some use the new language on a daily basis. That opinion is what inspired this one, the rest should explain for itself. Comments are open…..

Ain’t it a Shame

I am a writer

I’m not your average

Texter

I hardly

Even use text language.

What would be the harm

In typing out

A full sentence

Where abbreviations

Only went so far

Now they are

For every word.

I’m a teen

And

I hate my generation.

Reasons

Here’s a few.

We’ve degraded the

English language

Compressed it

Down to letters

And numbers.

It’s sad

In that of degrading

For the reason

That

It is pure laziness.

Every century

The slow process

Of the changing of language

Is occurring

And in this century

It is of

The texting generation

The rise

Of

Single letters

And numbers.

I’m a writer

A poet

A person

Who has deep respect

For the uses of the

English Language

And find the forming

Of the new language

Quite a

Disgrace

But that

Is just my personal opinion.

The history of

This new language

Came from technology

And the cellular phone

Where they don’t want

To type the lousy

Full word in

Because it takes

Too much time.

Ain’t it a Shame?

The new language

For if this is the future

Of my language

Even though I want

To live long

I don’t want to be around

When this all goes down.

One day

They are going to

Translate this poem

And say

Omg

This dude was right.

What you say is true for all languages throughout the ages. It’s a shame that technology degrades the English language. Great insight and foresight. Your are truly beyond your years.:)

You nailed it! When people got used to typing in abbreviated messages they now tend to forget how it was correctly spelled when asked. Abbreviated messages are like grafitti for the English language. It’s sad that soon people will grow illiterate of the English language (spelling and grammar) because of the texting forms and lingo.
