The thorn in your flesh is your addiction to alcohol that continues gnawing at your soul. Confront this problem by fighting against it and by seeking help from Alcoholics Anonymous.
It’s choking you
And it seems as though
You can’t let go
It’s a thorn in your flesh
- – -
What can you do
You’ve tried everything
But like a viper
It keeps raising its head
- – -
You know
What I’m talking about
It’s an addiction
- – -
Fighting to stay afloat
You’re willing
To cut off the hand
That feeds this pestilence
- – -
You hide, sneak
And deceive to get things
Your own way
- – -
Yes, you’ve to own up
To the fact that you’re
An addict
There’s no ifs nor buts
- – -
You’ve to realize
That you can’t
Beat alcoholism by yourself
- – -
Your marriage
Has begun to crumble
There’s distrust
And your wife has started
To see through your facade
- – -
Coming clean lies with you
Kick the habit
Say no to booze
Tell yourself that you can
Live without it
- – -
In the end you’ll connect again
With your family and friends
Your social life will improve
And you’ll stand a chance
To be free of your addiction
After joining Alcoholics Anonymous
