A sonnet about a boy who finds a bird, whose home has been destroyed beacuse of a fire.

I walk outside to see what kind of havoc was out
A little blue bird screeching and moaning all about
Threatened it felled, Anger it contained
Wandering on an unknown road, but nothing it gained
It had the eyes with the look of raging fire
Hate and Pain had shattered all its dreams and desire
I turned my head and found smoke in the distant
I walked closer, but the bird flew that instant
Now I feel all sad and empty inside
Perhaps a good night’s sleep will put my thoughts aside
I tucked myself in and pulled on my blanket
Through my window, I see the little bird’s silhouette
I close my eyes, watch the shadow fade away
Wondering where it went and to what way
