As I sat under the Christmas tree, and watched the lights blink.

My mind went somewhere else, and I began to think.

Suddenly, I was back in a time that wasn’t so great.

Although, it was Christmas, my heart was full of hate.

Because, I witnessed my father opening up his first one.

Then it was my mother’s turn, me and my brother got none.

So many tears were shed throughout the years.

While my mom and dad celebrated with champagne and beer.

Quickly, I thought think of someplace else.

I couldn’t handle the feelings, I felt.

Then in a flash, what do I see.

None other than my baby girl, my husband, and me.

We are sitting around the fire, passing out presents.

With smiles on our faces, feeling so pleasant.

Suddenly, tears of joy ran down my face.

For, my horrible memories, were instantly replaced.

As, she sat in my lap, I held my heart in my hands.

I looked in her eyes, now I understand.

I already have the best gift of all.

I never dreamed I‘d be this happy with something so small.

I watched as she opened all of her toys.

As, her eyes lit up, my heart filled with joy.

I believe everything happens for a reason.

For, I have all I need on this Holiday Season.
