On his final day

A day

So ever close

To the end

He fell

Touching the Earth’s

Welcoming arms

Peacefully and without worry.

A day

Quieter than all the rest

After those long years

Of fighting without glory.

His final drop

A final respect,

To be found on

The quietest day of the war.

To have the honor

Of finally falling

To stop killing

To stop reliving death.
