This is a quick poem I did for a charity book for lost and murdered children which will be published soon.
I can still hear the murmur of your beautiful voice
your precious joyful laugh
a verse of everything that once was right
I can still see your muddy footprints travelling along the floor
scuttling playtime’s fun through my memories
alone, at night I break
clutching on to your tattered teddy wishing it was you
what else is there for me to do?
praying for my tears to form you back into my life
and for your eyes to still shine, longing to be by my side
I am lost without you
your empty bed still whispers hope
and the empty garden still calls your name
all I am forced into – is to sit and wait
and wait some more for a sign to fall
to spiral down from my darkened skies
with the sweet sound pounding your breath
bringing you back safe and sound
to calm my fragile heart
come back to me with your smile
embracing the right side up
for my days will remain
forever broken in dreams without you here.
