A new piece.
Violent Flashes of lightning illuminate the sky
The Heavens burst open like the Gods have to cry
A torrent of teardrops unleash a flash flood of pain
Embracing my sorrows, alone in the rain
For so long I’ve stumbled, not knowing the way
All I know is here I can’t say
My grasp on sanity could be called tenuous at best
And I always feel like I’m failing some test
Life is a lesson I can’t seem to learn
Seems like someone keeps blowing the curve
I find myself lacking in the grandest of plans
Forgetting how simple it is just to stand
Weak in the knees, quivering like a child
Searching every corner for some place to hide
Lock all the doors and turn out the lights
Cowering in the dark, consumed by my fright
The raindrops beat steady, the thunder profound
I fight my fears to find solid ground
Each drop is a sorrow best left in the past
Each flash is a realization that this too will pass
Bathed in prismatic glory the rain washes my fears away
A sudden Summer storm gives hope for a new day
A new serenity I have gained,
Safe and sane, alone in the rain
