There is a certain serene joy that one feels around Nature, a joy that is special, rare and soulful, unlike any other pleasure derived in an urban environment.
Alone with Nature all around,
Where simplicity is seen,
A certain joy and peace abound
Within its habitat serene.
Far away from urban ills
I’ve gladly left behind;
Where a special freedom thrills
With beauty true and unconfined,
Ancient trees and flowers speak
Of their true, inherent worth;
Letting my spirit rise and peak
To heights of pure, untainted mirth.
The call of duty beckons me
To soon return to stress and strain
Away from where I love to be
Hearing the songbirds’ sweet refrain.
Before I leave Nature’s abode,
Hark back to the same, old pain,
Of carrying once again its load,
I know I shall be back again.
