Although we are always a fish, we can be a "big fish" or a "small fish." We can live in a pond or an ocean. What will you rather be a "big fish" with a lot of power in a pond or a "small fish" in an ocean with a lot of possibilities for growth?

Some persons wonder

What sort of fish

They are

- – -

They figure

You can either be

A big fish in a small pond

Or a small fish in an ocean

- – -

Some of us take our chances

And plunge into the ocean

Where there are a myriad

Of experiences

- – -

These say:  “To hell with being big”

Embracing freedoms

Exploring new ideas

And being challenged

They see themselves growing

- – -

Others say:  “Forget about the ocean

I’ll play it safe within a pond.  I’ll be

King of the Jungle”

- – -

They see no one

Able to challenge them

They become authoritarian

And their word is final

- – -

So think about it

Who would you rather be?

Chief of an African village

Or just another Joe

With opportunities to grow

In a vast country like America

A thought provoking poem. I think I would rather just be me.

I am steel in the process of finding myself so I can not say. If I ever figure out who I am, I will for sure tell you.

    Rightly said.
