For those who wake up convinced that their dream was reality.

the floors are shaking, the roof is creaking and our lives are at stake
like that time at your mom’s when we braved that earthquake
but never does a thought of mine ever rattle or even break
because the easiest way outta here, you taught me how to take.

so we fumbled and we tinkered with that silly cellar lock
you had the key but wanted to see if I could make you talk
“don’t you see, this is an emergency! we have no time to walk”
and down we go in history like the hands of a dusty clock

to the ashen ocean we shall arrive in a fortnight at this pace,
and though the bloody sun it sets, in your reflection you see disgrace…
seems to me it wouldn’t come to be if your heart wasn’t so misplaced
in those hills of green and lands rarely seen, where no man leaves a trace.

beyond the weeping giants seated on their thrones of woes
is a valley where efflorescence is a given amongst all that grows,
like the rhythm of our hearts professing our red-blooded prose
and the temples of timber where serenity is just under your nose.

so let’s find a way to ensure the day that we always hoped would be,
where I would say without delay all the things you mean to me
and in your eyes there I would find without language to intrude -
the sincerity found nigh prophetically “in my heart, yours I include”
