Whitewater @ Slate Creek/St. Joe National Forest, ID

In summer sun I wandered,

deep within the trees;

an eldritch forest deep and dense,

its scent upon the breeze.

They touched the sky in heaven,

in hues of deepest green;

their wondrous smell surrounding me,

their tops could not be seen.

I stood in awe and wonder

that I’d found such beauty rare;

so startled by the sight of them

that I lost all worldly care.

I returned back to that forest

when my heart was low;

the energy of peace that lived

within that forest flowed;

into my aching, wounded heart,

and filled me with such joy;

the pain I had within me,

those ancient trees destroyed.

Among the giant cedars,

I found my heart again;

believing that I could go on,

without my dearest friend.

    nature does bring us back to reality and brings back a sad mind, reminding it of the beauty all around and the memories we had forgotten

    Thank you, I truly had never seen trees so tall or so large at the base, Four of us could barely reach around one.
