A trutful look at the message that, about those who are not Theater actors.
Driven, fearful, obnoxious, comedic,
Words that can describe so many others,
Also can describe those who are hidden.
I remember the artsy cliques:
Anime lovers, band geeks, the theater dramatics,
And those in orchestra or in-between.
Though some of those whom I knew,
I knew were among the hidden,
‘Cause once one thinks of Theater students,
They may first think of the actors,
But there are also Theater designers, and produces.
Sometimes hidden behind the actors’ shine.
AT J.H. Rose High,
Those designers and producers were called ‘technies.’
I could have been one,
But without regret was a Career Technical student,
Who knew the ‘Theater’ students non-friendship of me had prudence.
You know,
Majority rules, and the actors took over.
In the plays,
And in the school hallways.
But among the hidden,
My friend’s friend helped to stage, and design,
For the Theater plays. Among the hidden,
An associate of mine was the stage manager.
Yes, I could have
Been among the hidden of the arts,
If I were not in orchestra,
But a so called ‘techie.’
No, there’s nothing bad
About being a ‘techie’,
Not when they’re more likely to not get layed off,
From being future Theater designers and producers,
Instead of computer and/or medical company workers.
Among the hidden,
I will feel I will be in a college society,
With earning a degree in Theater as a non-actor,
Among the hidden I will be.
