We dwell on the altar of our world where many of our needs are met for which we are thankful.

The world is an altar

Made of solid

And liquid matter

That is suspended

In space

And reaches far in the air

On mountain tops

That ascend as high

As Mt. Everest

- – -

In its valleys

We gather staples

Like wheat, corn

And rice

From its nutritious soil

Where we grow, eat

And offer up their produce

To the Almighty

- – -

Our harvest

Consists of an abundance

Of fruits like grapes

Apples, oranges, cherries

Melons and bananas

- – -

Vegetables like tomatoes

cabbage, potatoes and beans

Grow in abundance

In many regions of the world

While others suffer from drought

And famine

- – -

Much of what

We earthlings offer up

Are cattle and fruits that have

Been raised with our own hands

And drinks like wines, spirits

Ales, and beverages that we enjoy

- – -

Some even bring to this universal

Table, technological inventions

Of newly created telecommunication devices

And other technological instruments

Used in medical centers and hospitals

- – -

On this altar

We’ve offered our wine of hope

And the bread of life to come

Through our sufferings and joys

That are self-evident

Very true that mountains serve a great purpose as an altar. Moreover, it is said that lack of oxygen gives people heavenly expeirences in heights – no wonder most monastries are up there and Moses, Mohammed and even Jesus went to high mountains for spiritual inspiration!
