“To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go
To right the unrightable wrong
To love pure and chaste from afar
To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star

This is my quest
To follow that star
No matter how hopeless
No matter how far

To fight for the right
Without question or pause
To be willing to march into Hell
For a heavenly cause

And I know if I’ll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I’m laid to my rest

And the world will be better for this
That one man, scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star.”

Lyrics by Joe Darion

“To dream the impossible dream”

Ah, yes. I am back. After a hiatus of a day to kind of gather my thoughts, I have returned to tilt a more windmills, a fruitless and often frustrating occupation; yet, I figure, what else do I have to do that is more pressing.

A recent article of mine has stirred up a small amount of controversy here on Triond, creating some division; but, I hope no animosity. I am realistic enough to accept the fact that not everyone writes for the same reasons I do, not even my friends. I don’t expect that everyone sees the world from my perspective, nor, would I want them to. (It would eliminate the give and take of a good debate… :) ).

So, as a point of clarification; allow me to emphasize this…I too like to earn from my work. I like watching the little Earnings column here on my dashboard tell me how well my articles and posts are doing. Starving artists tend to not last long… they starve! So, make money and make as much as you can, is my theory.

My only real complaint is that, we, the authors and contributors on this site are directly reflecting on each other, our professionalism and our integrity. Being aware that each of us derives our income from the sites that we contribute to, should encourage us to be more aware of the impact of what we write.

I am Dan Quixote, I believe that anything worth doing is worth doing well. I feel that we each leave a long and lasting impression on the world, we should try to leave something valuable for those to follow. An example of our talents, our passions and our abilities.

The legacy, the impact you leave behind is not my business and I have no right to determine the course someone else takes in their journey. However, that windmill is still taunting me….

Write on, my brothers and sisters of Triond, my fellow bards of the Internet realm; raise your voices and your hypothetical pens to the world and let it resound with the voices of the modern wordsmiths that we are…

I still have dragons to slay.

Just a thought.

really i dont think you have to apologise to anyone, it is said truth hurts, well rather the truth than a lie in my book.

No need to apologize my friend, I believe you have the right to voice your opinion. I didn’t find the article in question offensive at all.

You had every right to bring attention to an issue that could affect all of us, especially in the long run. Glad to hear that you are back at your writing though.

I felt you were right on with your article. No apolodies needed friend.

    No need for apologies.

I think you hit the nail on the head with your words, The legacy, the impact you leave behind is not my business. It’s a bit like Facebook, articles on Triond are there for good, and if someone wants to be remembered for sensationalism, hopefully they’ll not regret it in later life. What is that old fahioned saying, make your own bed and sleep in it?

It is a noble ambition to try to make Triond a better place. I don’t know how much impact you can have, but go ahead and slay those dragons.

    be master of thyself
    let slaves go to hell
    the world of internet
    is worse than hell
that any fool can so easily say
big pop have your own way
    let the barking dogs
    have their fill
    we all are here
    for money still
