An apple is a powerful metaphor for a person who we eventually end up with for life. For many in the Western world we have one choice through marriage to get it right. If that breaks down some believe it is bad.

What an apple!
I’ve searched
All over the world
For you
- – -
I’ve visited many orchards
On undulating slopes
With a variety of trees
Until I decided
To pick you
- – -
Apples are of different varieties
They range from beet red
Yellow and green
Some are blended
Which are exciting to behold
- – -
Although you’re the apple of my eye
Sometimes amidst the orchards of life
I would view other apples
In admiration
“What beauties!” I would say
- – -
A wise friend of mine
Once said
“We’re free
To examine the menu
As long as we don’t touch”
- – -
It takes love, discipline
And commitment my friend
Because you made
Your choice when you picked
Your apple for life
- – -
If you do otherwise
You’ll end up
Discarding apple after apple
Cover of Apples
That’s beautiful
Giving humankind a bad name
By your fickle behavior
- – -
Some believe the apple was the fruit
Which got Adam and Eve
Into trouble in the Garden of Eden
