You were number one, a winner above all.

Better than any showstopper, almost a perfect wall.

Swatting pucks as if they were merely flies.

Yet being the saver, you still died.

You were a Leaf, a Wing, a Bruin, as well a King.

Being one of the best, you stopped nearly everything.

Engraved on the glorious Cup, your name stands.

You were solid, tough, and grand.

Greater than anyone who played your role.

And no fluke it was, as no one could find a hole.

All who watched you were beyond surprised.

As you played in perfect form and guise.

But greatness couldn’t last, as now you walk into death’s halls.

Rest in peace, and find your ways to the saints Peter and Paul.
